Tips on Growing White Widow Marijuana Strain

growing white widow strain

The White Widow Strain is a hybrid strain from Netherlands and was first generated by Green House Seeds during the 1990s. It is a product of crossing Brazilian sativa landrace strain and a South Indian indica. In terms of its growing techniques, the Green House Seeds suggests using the SCROG or Screen of Green method.

Trim under the screen to clear it from extra vegetation into the first week or two of flowering, but see to it that then plants remains as stress free as possible. White Widow strain can be grown either in soil or hydroponically. This strain’s flowering time is approximately 8-9 weeks and has a moderate to low yield because it is somewhat difficult to grow. And since the White Widow strain is choosy in terms of climate and feeding, you can make it healthy and happy by keeping it indoors. In this way, it can generate the amazing trichomes which is partly responsible for the name “White Widow”. To keep the plant growing strong and vegetative, give it a healthy supply of nitrogen. When it starts to flower, water the soil and prepare the plant for some nutrient additives with higher phosphorus levels.

It is incredibly wonderful to see this strain grow in your garden while the buds transform into gorgeous white crystals with trichomes that are fully loaded with THC. It has been recorded to have a fast flowering time with 55-70 days and bears medicinal properties great for physical pain and stress.

Grow White Widow Marijuana Strain Indoors

Whether you’ll grow them in soil or in a hydroponic setup, White Widow strain does well. And even though you can grow this outdoors from its earlier stage, keeping them indoors could give you the best results you will definitely love. The outdoor environment provides a sunny warmer climate giving the best opportunity for it to grow. Other growers would choose indoor growing primarily because they can use continuous light for germination and vegetative growth and then switch to outdoor light for flowering. This method uses all the benefits of the sun’s natural cycle while cutting down on energy use. But if you want to be cautious, an indoor space is also a good choice for best yields.

Create the Right Climate

It has been mentioned earlier that White Widow requires a certain temperature so it could grow best. Thus, it is a good idea to spend in a digital thermometer so you can be able to monitor the temperature (especially temperature changes) in your grow space. Note that this strain can be very choosy in feeding and climate, and this is something you should watch out for.

Germinate Seeds Accordingly

So here is a simple and effective method of germinating White Widow seeds: the Paper Towel Method. All you have to do is to take a few seeds or about 5 and place them on a paper towel and then cover them. Moisten the paper towel by spraying it with an appropriate spray bottle so that it would not go too wet. Keep the wet paper towel in a plastic bag, much better if in a resealable one such as a Ziploc. Put the plastic bag in a dark place so it would not catch any light. As quick as a day or two, you can now check the paper towel and see that your White Widow seeds have successfully germinated.

Importance of Vegetation Stage

If you are a soil grower, see to it that you are using a good medium that will allow the roots of your plants to grow easily. An example of this is a high quality compost mix. For a hydroponic setup, rock wool, vermiculite, or perlite can be used. If you desire to produce really nice, huge, and healthy buds, make sure that your plant is supplied with abundant nitrogen by using fertilizer and regular watering. Also, never forget that a good drainage in the roots is also important.

Flowering Stage of White Widow Marijuana Strain

Of course, the most important thing here is to harvest the most potent buds. To get this, switch the light hours during the dark period on the last two weeks of budding. This is why most growers take their plants outdoors during this stage to increase the amount of THC crystals produced.

By using these tips as your guide in growing your White Widow marijuana strain, you will definitely get a sea of green that you can surely enjoy for the rest of the year. Also, 450 to 500 grams per plant can be harvested through this guide. An enjoyable harvest can still be yours if you will just be careful and patient enough in growing them.
